Week 1

Learn how your classroom came to be inclusive, what this environment looks like, and how it will benefit you and your students. Then, discover the décor, rules, and communication that make the inclusive classroom as effective as possible.

Week 2

Examine common learning disabilities, neuro-biological disorders, and physical disabilities that educators see in the classroom. Then, discover how to give students the ownership over their own success, the structure to make good choices, and the motivation to keep them coming back for more.

Week 3

Learn about multiple intelligence theory and how it relates to the classroom. You will learn how to help your kids identify their own smart parts and cognitive strengths. Then, discover how to help students formulate appropriate goals and meaningful learning strategies.

Week 4

Learn how to make the right lesson modifications to give students equal access to learning opportunities. You will see how technology and creativity can help us modify and adapt with ease. Then, discuss three obstacles to student success: learned helplessness, tunnel vision, and isolationist thinking.

Week 5

Discover your own learning style and how it affects the classroom dynamic. Then, learn the joys (and common pitfalls) of collaboration so that you can start every relationship on solid footing. You will learn how to develop productive collaborations with various professionals.

Week 6

Learn how to make co-teaching work for you! You will learn the benefits of this arrangement and how it can be used to serve the needs of all students. Finally, discover what works and what doesn’t in the inclusive classroom, and examine some simple solutions for overcoming common obstacles.

Prerequisites / Requirements


There are no prerequisites to take this course.


Hardware Requirements: 

  • This course can be taken on either a PC or Mac device. A few Windows-specific examples are included. Mac students are welcome, but may not be able to duplicate all examples.

Software Requirements: 

  • PC: Windows XP or later.
  • Mac: OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 or later.
  • Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge and Safari are also compatible.
  • Adobe Flash Player. Click here to download the Flash Player.

  • Email capabilities and access to a personal email account.
  • Software must be installed and fully operational before the course begins.


When can I get started?

A new session of each course opens each month, allowing you to enroll whenever your busy schedule permits.

How does it work?

Once a course session starts, two lessons will be released each week for the six-week duration of your course. You will have access to all previously released lessons until the course ends.

How long do I have to complete each lesson?

The interactive discussion area for each lesson automatically closes two weeks after each lesson is released, so you’re encouraged to complete each lesson within two weeks of its release.

What if I need an extension?

The final exam will be released on the same day as the last lesson. Once the final exam has been released, you will have two weeks plus 10 days (24 days total) to complete the final and finish any remaining lessons in your course. No further extensions can be provided beyond these 10 days.
