Although there are many ways to meditate and many different forms of meditation, they all share a unifying characteristic: Each focuses on intentionally training a person’s attention and concentration. Meditation practices have been used by cultures around the world for thousands of years.
In this certificate program, you’ll explore the many meditation techniques that can be used to support the mind-body connection and promote healing and wellness. The program is designed for health professionals and nurses as well as general consumers. As you’ll learn, meditation’s health effects have been well documented. The practice offers improvement of the symptoms of various diseases and allows practitioners to experience a deeper spiritual connection. This program will guide you as you discover how the practice of meditation can be used to increase mindfulness, reduce stress, deal with pain and illness, and support overall well-being. THE HEALTH EFFECTS OF MEDITATION
Evidence of meditation’s health effects has been well documented: the practice offers improvement in the symptoms of various disease conditions in addition to the experience of a deeper spiritual connection. The goal of this course is to describe the health effects of meditation, including its psychological and physiological effects.
MEDITATION TYPES AND PRACTICES
This course covers Transcendental Meditation™, guided imagery and visualization meditation, mindfulness meditation, Osho Kundalini Meditation™, Vipassana meditation, walking meditation, laughter meditation, centering prayer meditation, and concentration meditation. The goal of this course is to explore the different types of meditation, techniques, and practices and examine the role of meditation in health and wellness.
MEDITATION AND RELIGIOUS TRADITIONS
Meditation practices are used by diverse cultures to promote healing, are rooted in the traditions of the great religions, and have been practiced for thousands of years. The goal of this course is to provide an overview of the meditation practices in the religious traditions of Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Judaism, Christianity, and Sufism.
Widely accepted, used, and studied within mainstream medicine, mindfulness meditation involves paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, and without judgment. The goal of this course is to provide an overview of mindfulness meditation, describe the health benefits of mindfulness meditation, discuss mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), and examine the techniques and practices for mindfulness meditation.

There are no prerequisites to take this course.

WHEN CAN I GET STARTED?
A new session of each course opens each month, allowing you to enroll whenever your busy schedule permits!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Once a session starts, two lessons will be released each week, for the six-week duration of your course. You will have access to all previously released lessons until the course ends.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE EACH LESSON?
The interactive discussion area for each lesson automatically closes 2 weeks after each lesson is released, so you’re encouraged to complete each lesson within two weeks of its release.
WHAT IF I NEED AN EXTENSION?
The Final Exam will be released on the same day as the last lesson. Once the Final Exam has been released, you will have 2 weeks plus 10 days to complete the Final and finish any remaining lessons in your course. No further extensions can be provided beyond these 10 days.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY CERTIFICATE?
You must complete all lessons to receive your certificate. You must pass the final exam in all lessons with a score of 80% or higher AND complete the Evaluation Form in order to receive your Certificate of Completion. Finals are graded as Pass or No Pass. Receipt of your certificate indicates successful completion of the course and that you have passed all final exams with a score of 80% or greater. You may retake final exams as many times as necessary within the duration of the course at no additional charge.
WILL I BE AWARDED CONTINUE EDUCATION HOURS FOR THIS COURSE?
Yes, ALLEGRA Learning Solutions courses are acceptable for CE contact hours in all states, however all healthcare providers are responsible for checking the “Accreditation” list to determine if this course awards contact hours for their profession.
